Lost in the excitement of the basketball and hockey postseasons is spring football. Boston College football starts up in a little over a week. Let's catch up, shall we?
Over the weekend, the BCDraft guys caught up with new offensive coordinator Kevin Rogers. Rogers touches on what brought him to the Heights, opening against Northwestern and Central Florida, and the physical attributes he looks for in a quarterback. Of course, most pressing on our minds is bringing a little more excitement to the Eagles offense. Smartly, Rogers is over-promising early on.
"I'm not one to make bold predictions. I'm looking forward to finding out what our capabilities are. It's not about the X's and the O's-It's about the Jimmy's and the Joe's! Great players make great coaches."
Pre-Snap Read's Paul Myerberg also considers Rogers arrival to be one of the top three Spring storylines for the Eagles.
"Gary Tranquill's retirement allowed Frank Spaziani to make what seems to be an upgrade at offensive coordinator: Tranquill's replacement is Kevin Rogers, formerly the quarterbacks coach of the Minnesota Vikings. His experience coaching quarterbacks on this high level was clearly a major selling point for Spaziani, who understands the importance of Rettig's development."
As part of his Spring Storylines posts, Myerberg also takes a look at BC's 2011 opponents: Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Maryland, Miami, N.C. State, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. All good reads.
EA's Eric Hoffses also had some player updates. Linebacker Alexander DiSanzo has left the program, according to a source. Incoming freshman Albert Louis-Jean will be playing field corner in the spring. Finally, Kaleb Ramsey will miss spring practices as he's recovering from surgery. He should return for summer camp.
