All the games have been played, and Jerry York and the Boston College Eagles hockey team will learn of their postseason fate in a little over an hour and a half.
The bad news is just as I feared earlier this year: Yale finishes with a 1 seed, and New Hampshire finishes on the 4 line, so that means Boston College will have to head west for the NCAA Regionals this coming weekend.
Here are the likely seeds given the final PairWise rankings:
1 line - Yale, North Dakota, Boston College, Miami
2 line - Michigan, Merrimack, Denver, Union
3 line - Minnesota-Duluth, Western Michigan, Notre Dame, Nebraska-Omaha
4 line - New Hampshire, Colorado College, Rensselaer, Air Force
And here's how I see the NCAA Tournament going down.
East Regional (Bridgeport, Ct.)
No. 16 Air Force vs. No. 1 Yale
No. 9 Minnesota-Duluth vs. No. 8 Union
West Regional (St. Louis)
No. 14 Colorado College vs. No. 3 Boston College
No. 12 Nebraska-Omaha vs. No. 5 Michigan
Midwest Regional (Green Bay)
No. 15 Rensselaer vs. No. 2 North Dakota
No. 10 Western Michigan vs. No. 7 Denver
Northeast Regional (Manchester, N.H.)
No. 13 New Hampshire vs. No. 4 Miami
No. 11 Notre Dame vs. No. 6 Merrimack
Not only will BC have to head west, but will have to play in one of two Regionals that are absolutely stacked. Under this scenario, the St. Louis and Green Bay Regionals will pit the four of the best teams in the country -- Boston College, Michigan, North Dakota and Denver -- against one another. In contrast, top seeds Yale and Miami have a much easier road to the Frozen Four.
Don't like this bracket ... at. all. Let's hope I'm wrong.
Projected Frozen Four field: Yale, Boston College, North Dakota and Merrimack.
