Boston College Wins Women's Beanpot With 3-1 Win Over Harvard

Congrats to the women's ice hockey team for bringing home the women's Beanpot title last night, defeating Harvard 3-1. Mary Restucci broke a 1-1 tie at 6:52 of the third, and Kelli Stack added an insurance goal at 16:42. Molly Schaus stopped 31 of 32 shots to improve to 20-4-3 on the year.

The Beanpot victory is the program's fourth. The BC women also won in 2009, 2007 and 2006, also making this the fourth title in the last six years. It's also the first time in program history both the men's and women's Beanpot titles call Chestnut Hill home.

Hopefully, like has been the case with the men in the past, the BC women's Beanpot title is a sign of better things to come. With the win, the Eagles improve to 20-6-5 on the year. The women's team is currently ranked 7th in both the USCHO Division I Women's Poll and the PairWise Rankings, and are four points behind first place Boston University in the Hockey East standings.

The women wrap up the regular season this weekend with a home-and-home with New Hampshire (14-15-1), before playing in the Hockey East tournament and (hopefully) making a late-season push for one of the NCAA Tournament's eight berths.
