Boston College Hockey Drops To #3 In The USCHO Poll

Despite the last second win over Northeastern and a brutal loss to the Terriers, the pollsters showed BC quite a bit of respect by only dropping us from 2nd to 3rd in the polls.

Minnesota retained the top spot for the second week in a row, with Merrimack, the last remaining undefeated team in the country, vaulting up to #2 and getting 25 of the 50 first place votes.

Humorously, despite battling current #2 Merrimack to an overtime loss and handing former #2 Boston College their most embarrassing loss in, honestly, a couple of years, Boston University retained their 16th place spot in the polls. Ha.

The polls don’t have any meaning in the slightest, but at this point in the season the Pairwise Rankings, which attempt to mimic the method used by the selection committee to fill the field for the NCAA Tournament, are completely useless. The nature of the Pairwise give some bizarre results early in the season (Ferris State at #2 and Lake Superior at #5 say hello), so the polls are really the best we have at this point.

The BC women's hockey team was idle this week and hung tight at #4 in their USCHO poll.
