Five different goal scorers helped the Boston College women's soccer team defeat Marist 6-1 in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. Midfielder Gibby Wagner scored two goals, while the Eagles also got goals from Victoria DiMartino, Julia Bouchelle, Kristen Mewis and Stephanie McCaffrey.
Eagles goalkeeper Jillian Mastroianni made one save in the first 45 minutes before giving way to Jessica Mickelson.
The No. 20 Eagles advance to the Round of 32 where they will face California on Friday, November 18 at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium on the campus of Stanford University. Cal (12-6-2) was a 1-1 shootout winner over Santa Clara in the first round. Should the Eagles advance, they would face the winner of the South Carolina / Stanford game on Sunday, November 20.
