Brian: Alright, Jeff. The Eagles travel to Death Valley as a three touchdown underdog and will be without the services of RB Montel Harris. Spaz already sounds defeated. You will be there in person (you are a better man than most). Is there any chance BC wins this game? How do you see things playing out on Saturday?
Jeff: I hope BC can get on the board on their first possession. BC needs to at least make it interesting for a while otherwise the haters will just be going crazy towards GDF and Spaz. We pretty much know where we stand with our coach right now regardless of what happens tomorrow so hopefully the players can win some games for themselves between now and the end of the season. In order to win tomorrow, some offensive players -- such as Colin Larmond Jr., Johnathan Coleman or Andre Williams -- need to make some plays. Also, BC needs to get some turnovers. Both need to happen.
Rettig doesn't need to play a whole lot better than he has been playing. It would be nice if he showed improvement, but he has played well enough to allow the team to win. Some people just need to make plays at key moments including the offensive line doing their part at the right time.
Tomorrow is really the first of four bowl games BC has this season. The Clemson game is one of a few BC games left this season that will draw national attention and where BC will play in front of a big crowd. Those four games are tomorrow, at Virginia Tech, Florida State on Thursday night in Chestnut Hill, at Notre Dame and at Miami. These are the games that matter for the Eagles now this season. The at Miami game might not even end up grabbing a lot of interest nationally or from the BC fan base depending on how the season turns out.
Big Finish
Brian: NESN writes about how Clemson freshman WR Sammy Watkins could tear up the Eagles secondary. What is your expectation for how Watkins performs on Saturday?
Jeff: Sammy Watkins is the real deal, he'll do something great Saturday.
Jeff: The women's soccer team lost their home matchup of top 5 programs to Duke last night. Were they overrated?
Brian: Of course not. BC still outshot Duke on the night. It's nearly an impossible task to go through the regular season undefeated.
Brian: Luke Kuechly makes Mel Kiper's latest NFL Draft big board. Chances Kuechly sticks around for his senior season?
Jeff: I think it's well above 50 percent he sticks around for another year.
Jeff: The hockey team started things off with a win in the Ice Breaker over Michigan State. Who ya got tonight?
Brian: Gotta go with BC to keep things going tonight. Eagles win their third Ice Breaker Tournament.
Brian: Steve Donahue's new student group -- Donahue's Disciples -- recently got some ESPN love. Will the Disciples help improve the Conte Forum environment this season?
Jeff: Oh boy, let's hope so, but I'm not holding my breath.
Jeff: You are ending your streak of three consecutive Boston College-Clemson road games attended. Clemson has the best tailgating in the league so what does our team's record matter? And will you attend any games this season?
Brian: N.C. State ... maybe.
Brian: Last one. Prediction time. Who ya got? What's the final score?
Jeff: If Montel was going to be healthy I was thinking about going bold, but he won't be playing. Clemson 38, Boston College 20.
