Yesterday, Time Warner Cable subscribers were treated to some long-awaited good news when the cable provider announced that it had entered into a long-term agreement with Disney/ABC. From Market Watch:
Disney/ABC Television Group, ESPN and Time Warner Cable today entered into a long-term, wide-ranging agreement that will provide Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks cable customers the programming of ABC Family, Disney Channel, Disney XD, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNEWS, ESPNU, ESPN Classic, ESPN Deportes, and SOAPnet, as well as WABC in New York, KABC in Los Angeles, WTVD in Raleigh-Durham-Fayetteville, WTVG in Toledo, and associated HD cable networks. Subscribers will also have unprecedented digital access to online content and expanded Video On Demand services.
The most important part of this deal involves gaining access to ESPN3.com, ESPN's live sports broadband network. ESPN3 will now be available to all TWC and Bright House Networks subscribers who get ESPN. That's great news for BC fans that subscribe to either TWC or Bright House, as chances are good that multiple BC football games -- and a number of basketball games -- will be shown exclusively on ESPN3.
The biggest question is whether this deal will go in effect in time for you to watch the BC-Weber State game tomorrow from the comfort of your own ... computer. TNIAAM's Sean Keeley writes that according to someone in the know, all TWC subscribers will have access to ESPN3 by end of day today. So fingers crossed that the deal goes into effect today.
