Harris, Castonzo, Claiborne And Kuechly Make Preseason All-ACC First Team

This week, the media once again tabbed Florida State as the favorites to win the Atlantic Division in 2010. BC was picked to finish just third in the Atlantic this season. But you wouldn't have guessed that from the Preseason ACC Football team, where BC placed four players on the team.

Four Eagles made the squad, the second highest total of any ACC program (second to North Carolina's five players -- all on defense). On offense, seniors Anthony Castonzo and Thomas Claiborne earned spots on the first team offensive line, and were joined by running back Montel Harris. Castonzo tied Florida State's Rodney Hudson for most total votes of the five first-team O-linemen (43 of 52 ballots).

On defense, BC's sophomore LB Luke Kuechly was the lone representative, finishing behind Maryland's Alex Wujciak and UNC's Quan Sturdivant in the linebacker vote.

Last year, the Eagles only landed two players on the Preseason ACC Football team, both offensive linemen -- Matt Tennant and Anthony Castonzo. Castonzo also won first team conference honors at the end of the year, and was joined by Kuechly on the first team.

Hopefully, all four players will earn similar honors in the postseason. Could they possibly be joined by Herzlich and Quigley?
