ESPN's Andy Katz is reporting that Evan Ravenel, the 6'8" sophomore forward from Tampa, asked for and was granted a release from the Eagles basketball program. Along with Rakim Sanders and Brady Heslip, Ravenel becomes the third scholarship player to ask for a release from the program this offseason.
Ravenel came on strong towards the second half of the year. While he wasn't one of the top scorers from last year, he did have some decent games coming off the bench for Skinner. This past year, Ravenel averaged 3.3 points and 2.4 rebounds per game while averaging 10.5 minutes per game.
With Kevin Noreen's status in limbo ($), the Eagles currently only have seven scholarships players left on the roster. The final signing date for men's basketball is less than two weeks away (May 19). I'd say new coach Steve Donahue has his work cut out for him over the next two weeks.
