BC-Virginia Kick Off ACC Baseball Championship

The 2010 ACC Baseball Championship begins today, as the 8th seeded Eagles face the top-seeded Virginia Cavaliers at noon at NewBridge Bank Park.

All three BC games will be televised on NESN.

For those unfamiliar with the tournament format, the top 8 programs are divided into two separate pools. Each team plays a round-robin schedule against the other three programs in their division, and the winners of each division play for the conference title on Sunday. BC drew the short end of the stick, getting placed in Division A along with #1 Virginia, #4 Miami and #5 Florida State.

BC is going with ace Pat Dean (5-2, 4.71 ERA) and Virginia will put Cody Winiarski (5-0, 4.32 ERA) on the hill. Winiarski beat the Eagles back on March 21, throwing 6.0 innings and allowing 1 run on 3 hits. Dean missed his scheduled start against Virginia.
