Weekly PSA #2.
Tomorrow, Boston College will be hosting its second annual "Lift for Life" event. For those that missed it last year, this is a fun-to-watch strength and conditioning competition featuring nine events such as tug-of-war and a truck push. Fans will be able to take photos with the players and get autographs after the event.
The event will be held at Alumni Stadium starting at 1 PM. The event is open to the public with a suggested donation of $5 per students and $10 per adult. Proceeds from the event will benefit research through the Sarcoma Foundation of America.
Here's a note from the Uplifting Athletes BC Chapter President, Ryan Lindsey:
Almost one year ago, my teammate Mark Herzlich was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma -- a rare disease that typically affects young men in their late teens or early twenties. Mark has fought his diagnosis with great resolve and inspired us all. Thanks to your help, Andrew, my teammates and I rallied around Mark and started the Boston College chapter of Uplifting Athletes to raise funds for Ewing's sarcoma research.
Mark has been declared cancer free by his doctors and he plans to join us on the field again this fall! Our hope is that we can take what we've learned from this experience and continue to help others in similar situations by raising money to support promising research for this rare disease.
Even if you can't make the event, you can still also help sponsor your favorite BC football player's fundraising goal. BC's efforts have already helped raise more than $100,000 in the search for a cure for Ewing's sarcoma.
