Thoughts:

  • The Big East takes a bit of a tumble this week, with Syracuse losing to Louisville at home (down 1 spot), Georgetown losing to Rutgers (down 4), Villanova losing to UConn (down 2) and West Virginia losing to Pittsburgh in 3OT (down 2).
  • While a home win over Indiana isn't much to write home about, Wisconsin benefits the most from the trio of Big East teams losing last week, jumping up 6 spots. Again, that's more a product of the teams abo ve them losing than anything the Badgers accomplished on the court last week.
  • We throw Texas back into the top 16 as they temporarily pick themselves off the mat with a 91-51 dismantling of Nebraska at home. Damn. 91-51? I guess losing 5 of your last 7 after starting the season 17-0 was cause for some serious frustration. Frustration that manifested itself into a Cornhusker beatdown.
  • The only team to drop out of the top 16 this week was Wake Forest, who lost on the road last night to Virginia Tech 87-83. Currently holding auditions for the second best ACC team. No, it's not Virginia Tech (benefactors of this year's weakest unbalanced schedule) and it's not Maryland (no signature wins other than Florida State).

Dropped Out: Wake Forest (#13)

Welcome: Texas (#16)

Maybe Next Week: Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Temple, BYU

By Conference: Big East 4, Big Ten 4, Big 12 3, ACC 1, SEC 1, Horizon 1, Mountain West 1, West Coast 1
