Making the internet rounds of previews and thoughts on the 2010 Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl between Boston College and Nevada.
While the Boston media would have you believe BC got selected for the lowest of the low of ACC bowls, it's a pretty good matchup considering BC will face a team with the second-highest week 15 BCS ranking of any ACC bowl opponent. The quality of the opponent is reflected in the opening point spread: the Eagles open as a 9 1/2 point underdog. Really? That much. While it's true I'm an unabashed homer, that seems a big high, no?
College Football Bowl Schedule: Best, Worst Days To Watch (SB Nation)
THE BEST: "The Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl is maddening both in title and scheduling, but watching a vengeful Nevada outfit that was one bad night in Hawaii away from going undefeated throw themselves against Boston College will serve as a scintillating appetizer for the next night's BCS national championship game."
Boston College lands in San Francisco (Boston Herald)
"They've got a Hall of Fame coach (Chris Ault) and Hall of Fame program and it's going to be a challenge," said BC coach Frank Spaziani, whose team lost to USC at AT&T Park when it last played in this venue. "They beat Boise, they only lost that one game (at Hawaii) and if they hadn't lost that game, they'd be the ones people would be talking about for the national championship."

"Formerly known as the Emerald Bowl, and prior to that, the San Francisco Bowl. Played in the picaresque but bizarrely configured AT&T Park, where both teams are forced to share the same sideline - although they can actually fit an entire football field in the stadium. (This year: Boston College vs. Nevada on Jan. 9.)"
College Football Bowl Games 2010: ACC Sending Nine Teams Bowling (SB Nation Boston)
"Neither Nevada nor Boston College occupies all that rarefied air in the final BCS rankings, but the Wolf Pack own a signature win, having taken down Boise State. So Nevada will likely be the favorite in this game.
But the Eagles have two of the best linebackers in the country in Mark Herzlich and Luke Kuechly, and what they lack in consonants in their last names, they more than make up for in aggressiveness and pursuit."
Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl, San Francisco: Boston College vs. Nevada (SB Nation Bay Area)
"Nevada has opened the game as a 9 1/2 point favorite over BC and folks are expecting a bit of a shootout with an over/under of 55 points. It's not quite the 74 points in the Oregon-Auburn national title game, but it should make for a fun game."
Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl (ESPN)
"After beating California earlier this year, it would send a strong statement to close out the season with yet another win over a team from an AQ conference. But keep in mind -- Nevada has lost four straight bowl games. Of course, those teams weren't as strong as this one. I'll come right out and say it -- Nevada can compete with anybody in the country right now."
