Trends:

  • Since losing the 2006 Rose Bowl / National Championship Game to Texas, USC has won three straight bowl games (all Rose Bowls). The Trojans defeated Michigan, Illinois and Penn State.
This will be USC's ninth consecutive and Boston College's 11th straight bowl appearance. Both are school records.
  • BC owns an 8-1 record in bowl games this decade. USC comes into the Emerald Bowl with a 6-2 record this decade.
BC faces a Pac-10 team in a bowl game for only the second time in program history (a 31-17 win over Arizona State in the 2000 Aloha Bowl).

The Eagles wrap up their 2009 campaign with the 8-4 USC Trojans in the Emerald Bowl. This is the first meeting between the two schools in 21 years. BC and USC have also scheduled a home-and-home for the 2013 and 2014 seasons, with the 2013 game set to be played in Los Angeles.

This is your last chance to watch BC football for a good, long while, so enjoy it. I will be at the game. You can follow my adventures on Twitter.
