Inside College Hockey Game Preview
USCHO's 2009-2010 Notre Dame Season Preview

Last Season: BC lost to the Irish 4-1 at home in the only hockey game I attended last season. Weak.

Trends: BC hasn't beaten Notre Dame in the regular season since a 4-1 win on October 26, 2001. The Eagles lone win over Notre Dame in their last 5 tries came in the 2008 National Championship Game. BC leads the all-time series 15-11-2.

Key Players:

Position Boston College Notre Dame
F Ben Gibbons Billy Maday
F Ben Smith Calle Ridderwall
D Carl Sneep Brett Blachford
D Tommy Cross Ian Cole
G John Muse Brad Phillips

Lost in the excitement of Eagles-Irish on the gridiron is a very good, cross-sectional hockey game tonight. The Eagles try to get in the win column in South Bend against CCHA's Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The Irish are currently ranked 9th in the country. They started the season slowly with splits against Alabama-Huntsville and Providence, but got a huge win on Tuesday over the defending national champion Boston U. Terriers. The Eagles are coming off a 4-1 loss to Vermont, a game in which the Eagles outshot the Catamounts.

Prediction: Notre Dame is coming off a huge win at Boston U. while BC was dominated by Vermont in Burlington. The past few seasons, the team who wins the regular season hockey game usually doesn't win the football game, so I'll go with the Irish in this one.
