The Eagles open their 2009-2010 campaign this afternoon in Burlington against Hockey East's Vermont Catamounts. The Catamounts began the season earning a two game split against top-ranked Denver. The Eagles won a pair of exhibition games against St. Francis Xavier (4-1) and the U.S. Under-18 National Team (6-3).

Last year, Vermont finished third in Hockey East and was swept by UMass-Lowell in the Hockey East Quarterfinals. Despite being swept, Vermont qualified for the NCAA tournament and defeated Yale and Air Force to advance to the program's first Frozen Four since 1996. Vermont loses a lot of firepower on offense, but returns their entire starting defense and goaltender.

Go Eagles!

Prediction: Boston College 3, Vermont 3 (OT)
