NCAA Hockey Tournament Action

Brian: I flirted with heading up to Worcester today for the game but I have family in town (was thinking about dragging them with me, but that's not happening). So I'm going to turn off my cell phone tonight at 7:30pm and watch the game in its entirety starting at 10:30pm (on MSG).

Here is a good article in the Globe today about how similar the Boston College and Minnesota programs have been this year. At the end of the article, York is quoted as suggesting this game could go to OT. I hope for my health's sake it doesn't.

Yesterday's NCAA hockey tournament games provided no shortage of entertainment, especially in the West regional. Defending champ Michigan State upset Colorado College on the Tigers home ice, 3-1, while the West's top-seed (and other Hockey East representative) UNH Wildcats were upset 7-3 to #4 Notre Dame. For once in my life, I actually cheered for the Irish watching part of the game on ESPNU. I feel dirty inside.

In the East regional, top-seeded Michigan and #3 Clarkson advanced. A bit of bad news for the Gerbe for Hobey camp in the Michigan game, as Hobey front-runner Kevin Porter notched 4 goals in a rout of Niagara. I thought if Porter had a quiet weekend and Gerbe was just filthy in the Northeast regional that Nate could make the race more competitive. Looks like Porter put the race for the hardware out of reach for the Eagles junior forward.

Leave any thought on the game in the comment section. Go BC!
