Almeida Scores in Pro Debut, Others Sit

Tommy Cross and Paul Carey make professional hockey debuts.

Paul Carey has signed with Colorado and Barry Almeida with Washington. The Avs did not qualify for the NHL playoffs, but their AHL affiliate, the Lake Erie Monsters, currently hold the eighth and final playoff spot in the AHL's Western Conference. As for Almeida, he'll report to Washington's Hershey affiliate, which has already clinched a playoff berth.
