Dean pitched 7 solid innings in BC's lone win on Friday (5-2). He improves to 2-0 on the year. On Saturday, Mike Dennhart gave up 8 earned runs in just 2 innings as the Owls pounded BC 15-6. In the rubber match, Kevin Moran gave up 7 earned in 4 1/3 as the Eagles fell 11-7.

The Eagles are now 4-5 on the year. BC next faces FIU on Tuesday and Wednesday before traveling to Coral Gables to face #11 Miami in a three-game weekend series.

Virginia's Landesberg suspended for rest of season

Virginia's leading scorer Sylven Landesberg has been suspended for the remainder of the season for "failure to live up to his academic obligations." Landesberg was averaging 17.3 points per game this season.

That's good news for BC given that they will face the Cavs in the first round of the ACC Tournament with:

a) a Virginia win over Maryland (not likely) or
b) a North Carolina loss to Duke (very likely).

The initial sting hurts a little bit. But you let the dust settle, you get some time to reflect, and I think they will be pretty proud of what they accomplished.

We had a really good group of young guys who came through our development program in Ann Arbor. They've got a lot of good years ahead of them. Hopefully down in the States, [the game] was viewed by a lot of people and it grows that game even more.

They were great. I've been at this for five years now, and that’s as thorough and as consistent an effort as I’ve seen from a team in five years. And then when you add the talent and the speed they have, it was like they were on steroids, and we just couldn’t match it.
