Boston College football fans purchasing tickets for children 12 and under will enjoy at least a 33 percent discount in the price of single-game tickets, Boston College athletics announced on Friday. In an effort to make the BC football game day experience more affordable for families, lower-and-upper level end-zone tickets are now on sale for five home games during the 2014 season.

When asked what makes him so dangerous when there’s a trophy on the line, Zach Sanford chuckled. "I dunno," he said. "I just try to stick to the simple things, play my game the way I need to play, go to the net hard, play like a big guy. I’m one of the bigger guys on my team usually so I just got to keep using that. If I keep working hard, it will work out my way." Another reason is that Sanford is no stranger to the playoffs. For three straight years, his team has reached the finals in its respective league. This season, the Boston College commit was part of a high-powered Waterloo Black Hawks squad that fell one game short of capturing its second Clark Cup.

The fourth addition is former Ohio signee Tariq Owens, a 6-foot-10 forward from Laurel, Md. who committed to Tennessee on Wednesday. The news was first reported by Evan Daniels of Scout.com. Owens’ decision moves Tennessee back to the scholarship limit (13) for the 2014-15 season, one day after it was announced that reserve point guard Darius Thompson would be transferring to Virginia.

Meanwhile, the team that ranks third on both of those lists is Boston College, which is unique in that such a large portion of its total draftees were first-rounders. In the last 10 years, 40 percent of all BC players drafted went in the first round. No other ACC school has a ratio half that large.

Proving that yesterday's upset of No. 2 seed Florida was no fluke, No. 15 seed Boston College continued its magical run with a 12-11 victory over No. 10 UC Santa Barbara. BC led 8-4 at halftime, but UCSB tallied three straight to open the second half and eventually moved ahead 11-9 with just over five minutes remaining. Back-to-back goals by BC's Kristina Howe and Kaitlin Brown just 36 seconds apart knotted the score with 3:03 left, and set the stage for more late-game BC heroics. As the closing seconds ticked away, senior Meghan Conley found a cutting Nicole Wei on the crease and Wei deposited the game-winner with just 12 seconds left.
