As reported earlier, Boston College received yet another commitment for the Class of 2016, this time from WR/DB K.J. Gray. The St. Peter's Prep senior, earlier said that he was going to take his commitment slow, but told this writer that he decided to move his decision up so that he could focus on his final high school season. He recently had narrowed his decision down to Rutgers and BC, and had a final four of BC/Rutgers/Syracuse along with a lesser school like UConn.
This is a major get for the Eagles for a multitude of reasons. K.J. of course goes to St. Peter's Prep in New Jersey, which has been a hot bed not only of talent for major college football programs, but for Boston College as well. Tight end Michael Giacone, wide receiver Charlie Callinan and running back Jon Hilliman were all graduates from the program. Each year this program produces excellent players, and next year they have at least two 3* (QB Jonathan Lewis--who has a BC offer, and OL Ben Petrula--who has SEC offers). Keeping that pipeline flowing is crucial to BC.
Asked why he chose the Eagles, Gray said that he the school offered a great blend of athletics and academics. Gray is going to be a great fit for BC no matter where they play him, as he mentioned in his NJ.com video he wants to play both sides of the ball. The 6-2, 190lb runs a 4.75 according to his HUDL film. If he is planning on being a defensive back he would be the first DB in the class, he would be the 2nd WR of the Class of 2016.
