On Tuesday, Boston College football coach Steve Addazio took some of the suspense out of next month's National Signing Day, announcing the enrollment of seven players for the spring 2014 semester. Two Florida grad transfers - quarterback Tyler Murphy and offensive lineman Ian Silberman - joined five talented incoming freshman in this year's greenshirt class.
By bringing these players onto campus early, they get a jump on learning BC's system while participating in spring practice. You can certainly see where the coaching staff's focus lies with this greenshirt class. Addazio brings in both dual threat quarterbacks expected to compete for the starting job next year, two offensive linemen, two defensive backs and a defensive end.
The latter, four-star defensive end Harold Landry, is regarded by many as the top player in this year's incoming recruiting class. Landry claims offers from more than a dozen BCS AQ programs, including Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Miami, Missouri, Ohio State and South Carolina.
All seven players will be eligible to play in 2014. Murphy and Silberman graduated from UF in December and have one year of eligibility remaining.
