Ryan Day To Be Named Boston College Offensive Coordinator

Boston College head coach Steve Addazio confirmed that he will hire Temple offensive coordinator Ryan Day to the same position.

Boston College head coach Steve Addazio confirmed in his introductory press conference that Ryan Day will be hired as the Eagles offensive coordinator.

"I've already made a decision that Ryan Day is going to be our offensive coordinator. Ryan's spent a lot of time here. I think he's one of the brightest young coaches in our business right now. I'm so excited that Ryan is on my staff. He's just one of those special guys. His personality is infectious. He's a great leader, a great husband, and a great father. As we put that together our staff those are the characteristics on offense, defense, and special teams. Those coordinators are basically head coaches of those units."

Day returns to the Heights after a year serving as Temple's offensive coordinator. Prior to his second stint with the Owls, Day served two different stints on the Eagles' coaching staff -- as wide receivers coach under Jeff Jagodzinski and Spaziani from 2007-2011 and as an offensive grad assistant under Tom O'Brien from 2003-2004.

He spent the 2006 season as Al Golden's wide receivers coach at Temple and the year before as an offensive graduate assistant at Florida under Meyer and then-OC Addazio. The Manchester, New Hampshire native was a three-year starter and quarterback at New Hampshire.

I know the reaction to this hire was negative but I'm willing to give this a shot. Day clearly wants to be at Boston College and hopefully he finds success after finally getting his shot to call the plays. When Addazio was hired, you sort of figured this was an inevitability, but this means that BC's current offensive coordinator Doug Martin will likely be in the market for a new coaching gig. If that's the case, wanted to thank Martin for his year of service to the Eagles and wish him the best of luck in the future.
