Name: Thadd Smith
Position: Wide Receiver
Number: #18
Year: Sophomore
Height: 5-foot-9
Weight: 175 lbs.
Hometown: Yeadon, PA
High School: Cardinal O'Hara
2013 Stats (HS): Earned first-team all-state honors in 2013 ... earned Daily News All-Catholic League accolades ... scored 14 touchdowns as senior to go along with 622 receiving yards on 32 receptions ... notched 426 yards on 33 receptions with eight touchdowns as a junior. (via bceagles.com)
2014 Statistics: Played in nine games, totaling 36 snaps (according to BCEagles.com)
2015 Projections: With Gabe McClary moving to defensive back, Josh Bordner graduating, and Dan Crimmins/Nat Dixon leaving the team you have to imagine there is going to be opportunities for Smith on the two deep. He will be battling two players returning from injuries (Bobby Swigert/Harrison Jackson), but according to spring reports Smith has formed a good connection with quarterback Darius Wade. I expect Smith to have a break out year as a sophomore and establish himself as a weapon for the Eagles.
Over/Under: 25 receptions
How'd He Get Here: A three star wide receiver from Pennsylvania, Thadd chose Boston College over James Madison, Rutgers, Temple and Toledo. His primary recruiter was Ryan Day.

Uniform History: All sorts of different positions have worn the #18 jersey for the maroon and gold over the years; every position from halfbacks (Edward Aaron 1928-30) to kicker (Ken Kanzler 1985), defensive backs (Jeff Kaufman 1975-78) to offensive guard (Matthew Ruggiero 1945). A recent fan favorite, JUCO transfer QB Paul Peterson wore the #18 during the 2003 and 2004 seasons. Crimmins will be looking to replicate the success of another New Jersey wide receiver, #18Rich Gunnell, who served as team captain during his senior year (2009). Last season wide receiver Dan Crimmins wore it.
