The ACC officially announced the 2014 schedule today so we now know what Boston College's schedule will look like. As we have been aware of before, the Eagles have seven home games this year and eight if you consider UMass a home game as well.
Aug. 30 -- @ UMass Minutemen
Sept. 5 -- Pittsburgh Panthers (Fri.)
Sept. 13 -- USC Trojans
Sept. 20 -- Maine Black Bears
Sept. 27 -- Colorado St. Rams (Parent's Weekend)
Oct. 4 -- Open
Oct. 11 -- @ N.C. State Wolfpack
Oct. 18 -- Clemson Tigers
Oct. 25 -- @ Wake Forest Demon Deacons
Nov. 1 -- @ Virginia Tech Hokies
Nov. 8 -- Louisville Cardinals
Nov. 15 -- Open
Nov. 22 -- @ Florida St. Seminoles
Nov. 29 -- Syracuse Orange
The good news is that like I had hoped, USC, Clemson and Florida State are all separated by rough a month each. The bad news is that there is another Friday home game this year, this time against Pitt. Also have to be happy to have a bye week before BC takes on the defending national champions down in Tallahassee.
September is going to be heavy for home games, with five games in Massachusetts (4 at Alumni, 1 at Gillette), one home game in October and three in November. Just looking at the schedule quickly, it looks like if BC plays well they could be bowl eligible before November hits. I like how the schedule pans out because honestly, minus USC the first month of their schedule will be very manageable for a young team with a new QB.
