Bryant 56, Boston College 54: Post-Game Reaction Thread

Mark L. Baer-US PRESSWIRE

Boston College hoops just suffered a 56-54 loss to Bryant, arguably the worst loss in recent program history.

While we waited for Bates to drop the hammer on Frank Spaziani, the Boston College men's basketball team was in action this afternoon hosting the NEC's Bryant Bulldogs. It's a good thing that everyone was hitting Refresh on the Boston College Athletics home page, that the game was an ESPN3 exclusive and that no one was paying attention. That's because the Eagles just lost to Bryant, 56-54, for the first time in program history. Bryant has been a Division I basketball team for five seasons.

Boston College's all-freshman backcourt paced the Eagles. Olivier Hanlan finished with a team-high 19 points and Joe Rahon added 11.

Despite going on a 16-5 run early in the second half, the Eagles couldn't put away the Bulldogs. A Ryan Anderson desperation shot rolled off the rim as time expired, giving Bryant their first ever win over Boston College (1-4).

Not much went right in this one, and Boston College hoops is left with one of the most disappointing losses in recent program history. Yes, this loss is way worse than the losses to Maine, Robert Morris or any of the last four against Harvard. Bates might want to get on that whole #FireSpaz thing right away to divert attention away from this brutal loss.
