BC is currently less likely to win ACC tournament than Georgia Tech despite beating the Yellow Jackets Saturday and earning the 8 seed over them.
Perhaps you are looking to bet on March Madness. Some sports books had odds to win the ACC Tournament out prior to the end of last night's Virginia-Maryland game, despite knowing whether Virginia or N.C. State would earn the fourth and final first round bye.
Here they are:
Duke Blue Devils -- -140
Miami Hurricanes -- +180
N.C. State Wolfpack -- 4.5-1
North Carolina Tar Heels -- 5-1
Virginia Cavaliers -- 8-1
Florida St. Seminoles -- 18-1
Maryland Terrapins -- 20-1
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets -- 40-1
Clemson Tigers -- 40-1
Boston College Eagles -- 50-1
Wake Forest Demon Deacons -- 75-1
Virginia Tech Hokies -- 100-1
While Boston College is the eighth seed, they have a higher payout to win then both Clemson and Georgia Tech who are seeded behind them. There are factors other than who the oddsmakers think will actually win when setting lines like this. Perhaps very little money has followed BC all season long while Clemson and Georgia Tech have already had more money put on them.
Clemson is probably the worst bet on the board having lost nine straight heading into this year's ACC Tournament. Even though Duke is the 2 seed, they are the favorite to win rightfully so with the return of Ryan Kelly. Duke is still undefeated this season with Kelly in the lineup.
N.C. State is widely considered the third favorite to win the ACC Tournament but have fallen to the 5th seed so they will be attempting to become the first team ever to win the ACC after having to start play on Thursday. They are in the same boat as Boston College.
