ESPN's ACC blog is counting down to football season with an "Ultimate ACC Road Trip" feature - looking at each week's schedule and picking game(s) to attend. For week 2, the Friday night tilt between BC and Pitt sends their trip through Chestnut Hill:
BC and Pitt have not played since they were both in the Big East back in 2004, so there is some history between the two schools. Plus, I want to see whether Pitt is going to live up to the early prediction that it will be a sleeper team in the ACC. I also want to see how Steve Addazio does in Year 2, with a vastly different looking offense than he had on his bowl team a year ago. To me, this qualifies as a must-see game because it does have ACC implications so early in the season.
"I just have to represent my family well, as well as Boston College," Pierre-Louis said during Seattle's rookie minicamp last weekend. "I was fortunate enough to get my degree there in marketing, and I just like to represent myself well, represent the people that support me as well as represent any organization that would pick me up."
I love seeing the reference to making BC proud and representing BC well. Thinking of yourself as an Eagle through and through, even after you leave the Heights, seems to be a real hallmark of BC's hockey alums in the pros, and I'm sure that with the culture Steve Addazio is building here, players are developing that kind of pride in their program.
"They didn't draft this kid necessarily thinking, ‘Wow, we really have to shape him,' " Hanson said. "It may just be more about giving him little bits of advice about the NFL, but as far as kicking, he was drafted because he's good."
Guard Dimitri Batten, Old Dominion's second-leading scorer last season, has found a new home at Boston College. Batten confirmed via text message Tuesday that he will play for the Eagles as a graduate student next season. He played three seasons at ODU and will be eligible immediately at B.C. per an NCAA rule that allows players who graduate with eligibility remaining to transfer and play right away.
Heading into the 2013-14 Boston College Eagles men's basketball season, we knew things could go one of two ways.
Avert thine eyes.
Boston College juniors Mikaela Rix and Covie Stanwick have earned IWLCA First and Second Team All-American Honors, the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association announced on Tuesday.
What's he up to now that the Flames season is over? Crushing it for Team USA, during their pursuit of glory at the hockey World Championships, currently happening in Belarus. It might be the most underrated sporting event currently happening anywhere in the world, and goals like the one Gaudreau netted against Germany in the USA's final preliminary round game show why:
