The Gold Pass, which is the only student-specific ticketing option for 2013-14, will cost $175. Last year, season tickets for football, men’s basketball, and men’s hockey had a combined price of $315, and sold at a discounted $275 when purchased in a Superfan Package. The Gold Pass is set at a $100 discount from the Superfan Package, but will cost $50 more than football tickets did last season.
In my opinion, the best thing Brad Bates has done so far in his time at BC. Now let's push these very hard to the new students and parents at orientations this summer. This is the first legitimately discounted package BC has offered and the incentive-based priority points system should have a positive effect on the lightly attended games throughout the course of the basketball season.
While tailgating and attending football games is such a part of the culture at BC that even those with little interest in the actual game purchase season tickets, basketball games (and hockey to a degree) don't have that luxury. This will be a great way to get the casual fan over to more games at Conte without feeling the "sting" of $10, and a constructive way to compete for annually desired Duke and UNC tickets. Rewarding those who arrive early is also an excellent idea to change the culture around the program, so hopefully the days of 7-person student sections are behind us soon.
