James Hendren, the 270 pound OT commit for BC's 2014 class, continues to pile up offers. According to 247sports.com, to date Hendren has received offers from eight schools, including two from the SEC and two from the B1G (Rutgers being one of the two). The three star Massachusetts native played his high school ball locally for the Dexter School in Brookline and verbally committed to BC all the way back in May. His stock has risen as of late, which has resulted in recent offers from Arkansas and Penn State. Hendren has reportedly been flattered by these offers, but ultimately turned them down saying, according to 247, that he is "focused on the Eagles."
I wanted to highlight this story because it shows the caliber of kids Addazio is out there recruiting not just on the field but off the field as well. I speaks volumes to see Hendren respectfully declining other big (sometimes B1G) names in order to honor his commitment. Addazio's coaching staff identified several initially under the radar recruits (Landry and Baker fall under this category as well) and showed them why BC was the best place for them. Diligence has paid off so far for the Eagles on the recruiting trail, and it is a great sign for the program moving forward. Obviously National Signing Day is still a ways a way, but I love the way the program is trending. Go Eagles!
