After being dismissed from the Boston College hockey team on Tuesday, would be freshman forward Frank Vatrano has returned to the EJHL Junior Bruins. Vatrano had previously spent time with the Boston Junior Bruins for a number of years before enrolling at Boston College. He returns to practice with the Junior Bruins on Wednesday.
According to The Eagle Tribune's Mike McMahon, he did not leave the program on his own terms.
News of Vatrano's departure was soon followed by rumors that he might head to the QMJHL's Moncton Wildcats or to the USHL. The USHL's Dubuque Fighting Saints claimed Vatrano's rights and placed him on their protected list, but the forward chose to return to the EJHL.
Returning to the EJHL allows Vatrano to retain his college eligibility and he may resurface in the NCAA next season. Vatrano, ranked a 'C' skater in the Central Scouting Service's preliminary 2013 rankings, is NHL draft eligible in 2013.
