First Order of Business? A Fresher Look

[Ed. note -- Front Page'd]

With my first ever FanPost, I decided that I needed to unleash my thoughts about the image of BC Football. I was fooling around with Photoshop yesterday before the slate of Sunday NFL games (never thought I'd be so grateful for our ACC refs) and I decided to design these new uniforms for the Eagles. Unfortunately they aren't dishing out applications to the student body for becoming the successor to Gene DeFilippo as AD, but boy do I wish they were. If I became AD, this would be my first order of business to fix this football program.

Here's the plain and simple truth — college players envision themselves playing for the school that is recruiting them. Why do you think some of these freak athletes choose to play at Oregon over SEC schools or other powerhouses who are recruiting them hard? Don't kid yourselves. Oregon built a program based on being the coolest looking team in the country. And it works. Baylor is going along the same track. So many national contenders are getting the recruiting edge because they have recognizable looks and — to use a modern slang term — they have swag.

BC has no swag. Our helmets are plain and absolutely unrecognizable outside of this region. Our uniforms are plain except for this very faint stained-glass look we've got going on around the shoulders and the numbers. We're boring.

I don't mean to rant, but here are my 4 pro combat uniforms that I'd be begging Nike to provide us if I became the Athletic Director. Maybe I'm crazy, but I say these bad boys would change the way recruits look at Boston College.
