Boston College Basketball Rallies To Defeat Real Canoe Madrid 60-56

[Ed. note - Front Page'd]

Ryan Anderson said BC would bounce back today after yesterday's loss to Casvi.

He was right.

While BC didn't get to Steve Donahue's goal of scoring 72-78 points today, they still rallied to defeat Real Canoe Madrid today, 60-56. BC had to fight through early foul trouble (Dennis Clifford and Olivier Hanlan eventually fouled out) and watching Real Canoe Madrid shoot 31 free throws to BC's 15. However, the home team was held to only 15 made field goals.

Ryan Anderson lead BC with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Patrick Heckmann and Danny Rubin (you don't read this wrong) scored 13 and 11 points, respectively. Heckmann also had 4 3 pointers. The freshmen guards had very good rebounding numbers, and Joe Rahon had 6 boards and Olivier Hanlan had 5. Jordan Daniels had 3 assists.

It was a game of runs, and BC trailed throughout most of the first half, but they managed to cut the lead to 2 at 28-26. However, BC started playing stifling defense, holding Real Canoe Madrid scoreless for the first 6:06 of the 3rd Quarter. However, Real Canoe fought back and took a 43-41 lead going into the 4th Quarter.

BC took control again to start the quarter, scoring six unanswered points to take a 47-43 lead. However, Real Canoe tied the game at 54 apiece with less than 2 minutes to play. That's when Jordan Daniels found Patrick Heckmann in the corner and Ryan Anderson at the top of the key for a 3 pointer and a long 2, and BC would hold on from there.

The road gets much harder now, as BC faces to ACB teams, which is the top league in Spain. They get a day off to travel to Valencia, where they will take on Valencia Basket, who was won of the top teams in the ACB league.

Go Eagles!
