Joey Dudek, an incoming junior forward from Pinkerton Academy in New Hampshire has committed to Coach York and the Boston College Eagles hockey program, according to the tweet from the KUA varsity hockey Twitter account.
Dudek recently helped the U.S. Under-17 national team earn first place at this month's Five Nations Tournament in the Czech Republic. The Auburn, New Hampshire native scored twice in a 5-2 win over the Czech Republic and added his third goal of the tournament the following night in a 4-2 win over Slovakia, helping the United States national team to a perfect 4-0-0 tournament record.
In net for the U.S. U-17 team was fellow Boston College commit Chris Birdsall. The 15 year-old netminder was in net for three of the Americans four victories, stopping 15 shots in the 6-2 win over Germany, 20 against Switzerland and 19 in the 5-2 win over the Czech Republic. Birdsall will play for the USHL's Cedar Rapids RoughRiders this coming season.
As a freshman in high school, Birdsall lead Glen Rock (N.J.) to the State Public B semifinals before falling to Tenafly in the semis. The 5-foot-11, 160 pound netminder had a 1:08:22 shutout streak during the postseason run.
Both Dudek and Birdsall have a '96 birth year which likely puts both in the incoming Class of 2015.
Welcome to the Heights, Joey and Chris! You have chosen wisely.
