Bob Hyland was named Boston College's rep in this year's Atlantic Coast Conference 2012 Football Championship Game Legends class. Hyland played center and offensive guard for the Eagles from 1964-66. The ninth overall pick in the 1967 NFL Draft, Hyland went on to have an 11 year NFL career with stops in Green Bay (1967-69), Chicago (1970), New York Giants (1971-75), Green Bay (1976) and New England (1977).
Hyland will be honored during the ACC championship weekend in Charlotte, N.C. on November 30 and December 1.
This is the eighth year the ACC has selected a legend from each of its 12 schools, which is sorta weird considering none of these former Eagle greats actually played in the conference. A rundown of Boston College's football legends:
2005: DT Mike Ruth (1982-85)
2006: QB Doug Flutie (1981-84)
2007: TE Pete Mitchell (1991-94)
2008: LB Steve DeOssie (1980-83)
2009: DB Mike Mayock (1976-80)
2010: DB Tony Thurman (1981-85)
2011: LB Steven Boyd (1991-94)
2012: OL Bob Hyland (1964-66)
