In stunning news coming out of the Heights today, Boston College star running back Montel Harris was kicked off the team for "repeated rules violations." [Updated with official school release]
Senior running back Montel Harris has been dismissed from the Boston College football team due to a repeated violation of team rules, Coach Frank Spaziani announced today.
"Montel Harris has been permanently dismissed from our football team due to a repeated violation of team rules," Spaziani said. "We are grateful for his contributions the past four seasons and will support him in completing his degree requirements and in his future pursuits."
This is a bizarre end of a storied career for Boston College's all-time leading rusher. After a knee injury ended his season in 2010, he played in only two games in 2011, before shutting it down with another injury after the first practice of the spring. He was expected to return in 2012 and spearhead a strong running attack along with Andre Williams, Tahj Kimble and Rolandan Finch.
No word yet on what rule Montel Harris broke to get kicked off the team. Kind of shocked that BC even published that he was breaking rules. In respect to Harris it would have probably been more kosher to keep that on the DL. It will be interesting to see if this is the end of the road for Harris, or if he will reemerge at another school.
Bad news for the Eagles.
