Join coach Steve Donahue in the second annual Boston College Coaches vs. Cancer 5K Classic on September 15, 2012. The event begins at 10 a.m. at Conte Forum.
Last year, Donahue and the men's basketball team partnered with the American Cancer Society's Coaches vs. Cancer program to hold the first annual race. The men's team, along with BC students, faculty and local residents raised over $8,000.
Coaches vs. Cancer is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) that empowers athletic coaches, their teams, and local communities to make a difference in the fight against cancer. The initiative leverages the personal experiences, community leadership, and professional excellence of athletic coaches nationwide to increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living through year-round awareness efforts, fundraising activities, and advocacy programs.
Pre-registration is $25, $15 (students) and $10 (children 12 and under). Day-of registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and is $30, $20 (students) and $10 (children 12 and under).
The basketball team hopes to continue to grow the event. Hope you consider coming out, running and supporting a great cause before watching the Eagles football team take on the Northwestern Wildcats in Evanston.
