[Ed. note -- Front Page'd]
Andrew Isaacs is the first recruit for BC's 2013 class having committed on November 30 last year, just five days after Boston College convincingly beat Miami. When he first committed, there was no star value appointed to him as he was an underclassmen. Now, call me crazy, but it appears that Andrew Isaacs is on the ESPN Top 150 and is apparently ranked as an ESPN 5 star athlete.
While each ranking entity ranks players differently, ESPN is notoriously stingy when handing out that 5 star ranking. There just aren't too many each year. If this is not an early season internet page error, I think this is a pretty big deal. When was the last time BC netted such a highly ranked recruit? Does this mean he is truly 5 Stars? Time will tell.
1. I pray to God we are able to keep this recruit. Rivals has him listed as a "solid verbal," and in the Rivals article, Isaacs states that BC is the place for him. Isaacs even goes on to defend BC against critics stating that BC had a young team this past year. Siravo recruited this player and he is now gone, but I think its likely that Isaacs joined BC for the program and not for the recruiter.
2. Having Isaacs may attract other higher caliber recruits disputing any myth of a stigma against the program. If he is such a highly touted recruit and has no issue with committing to our Alma Mater, it may affect others who are considering BC.
3. Isaacs did tear his ACL on 11/18/2012, effectively ending his high school season. This might have also influenced his decision to committ to BC just twelve days later. For now, it still remains a positive sign for the recruiting class of 2013.
