Won't be able to watch but looking for 2 things...
1) Toughness inside – NC State completely manhandled us in the paint last time these 2 teams played, in particular Leslie. Really want the guys to battle inside and limit 2nd shot opportunities.
2) Ball Security – Have we had a game this season with less than 10 TOs… Maybe. But it seems like every game we turn it over 17-18 times. Single-digit TOs. It can happen.
Ello. Not expecting a real big turnout tonight…

Good pass by Caudill
Humpfrey needs to convert that.
He's been showing some good touch: both shot and pass
But he still needs to work on footwork on defense.
Definitely encouraged he can contribute more than what I saw in the first half of the season
Caudill lefty hook?

He’s improved a lot and is a good stabilizing force
Nice post game by Anderson on that possession.

Not sure why they have a shooter open on the perimeter on every possession. They are going to start hitting those wide open shots sooner or later

Stated that BC doesn’t have a go-to 1 on 1 player. Finally a color guy that isn’t terrible.
This is one of the things that we are definitely missing.

If only Reggie came back
Wonder how many wins we would have? Thinking around 13 or 14.
Think it’s only a marginal improvement. Guys would have double and triple teamed Reggie. He would have definitely brought more leadership and control to the offense, but I don’t think BC woulda been all that much better honestly.
Editor, BC Interruption
Hmm
Well I think that it would enable our guys to be more stand still shooters. Which would have helped.
Also, probably would have seen a shorter lineup earlier in the season.
As it stands, this season was probably better in terms of development for the freshmen.
Agreed it was probably for the best that RJ went to the NBA. He got paid, and Donahue gets a clean slate to shape this program and give the freshmen more PT.
I think having Jackson would have enabled our guys to be more stand-still shooters, but this team just isn’t there yet in terms of being knock-down shooters. Donahue has relied on the 3 ball less this year in part because I don’t think these guys are there yet.
Also, I’m not sure Humphrey taking even more attempts from the floor would be a good thing.

Playing OK
They are playing pretty well on D. Also using the whole shot clock on offense and thus limiting overall possessions.
Pretty on par with the Virginia & Miami games. Hopefully they can keep this close past the 7 minute mark today.

My questions
1. What is the biggest thing you are looking to work on as a team this last third of the season?
2. What are the biggest things you are working on it practice? How well are the players taking this into the game?
3. What do you think of the play of Daniels? Where do you think he’s progressed the most and what’s his biggest area for improvement?
Definitely going to ask Donahue why we wait 30 seconds to run any offense on every damn possession.

To limit possessions
This was our strategy against NC last year.
Well it makes us rush for a bad shot every time down the floor.
FearTheSword, SBNation's Cleveland Cavaliers blog
by Conrad Kaczmarek on Feb 1, 2012 9:36 PM EST up reply actions
Yeah
Also, has limited fast break points for NC State.
I think they are just trying to be safe with the ball
Perhaps…but I don’t like it without a guy that can consistently create his own shot. Also, it hurts my eyes.

This strategy typically works against opponents the second time around. See also: UNC game 1 and 2 last year.

While I'm sick of moral victories...
…this was probably one of their more complete games this year.
Clifford and Anderson were beasts.
Daniels played well.
Humpfrey was a little more Hyde than Jeckyll.
Moton had a solid game.
Jackson was stifled by some tight defense. Needs to work on dribble drive game this offseason.
And some really good effort on D for most of the game.
NC State only had 2 offensive rebounds in the 2nd half (according to the announcers). Have to like the improvement.
first game I've seen in person this year
obviously the first thing you notice is how much more athletic state looks then our guys, which never allows us to work the ball inside like I know we’d like to in order open up those threes when their D collapses down low.
Who here has seen Semi-pro… you know that one play that they make them run until they all throw up? Thats our offense… the entire thing is run about ten feet out from the perimeter where guys fight to get up in a place where they cannot attack and just relay the ball around until the shot clock starts winding down and we need to dry desperately to get a last second shot off. That was literally the whole game.
But I do understand the reason the don wants to play slow: we’re outmatched in all these games athletically and have to try to find other ways to beat teams
Even though we didn’t collapse at the end of this one you could see that our guys were huffing and puffing and way more worn out than state’s guys
I've got one word for the team:
FREETHROWS!!
