Troy Taormina-US PRESSWIRE
Immutable law of conference realignment: If you are, or were at any point of time, a member of Conference USA, there's a reasonable expectation that you'll find your way into the Big East.
Three immutable laws of conference realignment:
1) Bigger is always better
2) S--t always rolls downhill
3) If you are, or were at any point of time, a member of Conference USA, there's a reasonable expectation that you'll find your way into the Big East
The Big East expanded by two on Tuesday, adding East Carolina as a football-only member in 2014 and Tulane as an all-sports member that same year. So in 2014, nine of the 14 football teams in the Big East will have once been members of Conference USA.
Talk about the ACC killing the Big East, but what the Big East is doing to C-USA ...
The only question I have is why didn't East Carolina hold out for an all-sports invite? Don't the Pirates have all the leverage here? What did the Big East say that forced ECU hand? That they had Florida International waiting in the wings?
BYU reportedly received an invitation to join the conference as well, but once they heard ECU and Tulane were coming on board, the Cougars kindly asked Aresco to lose their number.
The epic UConn-Louisville roshambo for all of the ACCs just got real, son.
