Boston College Basketball is still looking for it's first member of the 2013 class. After watching Garland Owens play in person, the BC coaches decided to offer him October 3. Owens goes to Massanutten Military Academy (VA); he was originally a 2012 prospect, but he reclassified this year from Magruder High School (MD) to get more exposure on the recruiting scene.
Owens is known as a freakish athlete that can make plays that change the momentum of games. He is also known for his stout defense and unusual shot-blocking ability for a SF; however, he needs to round out his game more to go with his freaksih athleticism. Before reclassifying, Owens held offers from schools like St. Bonnaventure, Drexel, New Hampshire and Hartford.
This prospect certainly fits where Donahue believes the Eagles have the biggest depth issue, at the small forward position (Donahue talked about that in the team outlook for this season). Also, with BC likely moving to a more up-tempo style this season, Owens fits perfectly with his ability finish on the fast break.
