2011 College Football Bowl Pick'Em: Week 4

Photo

Only three bowl games remain in the 2011-12 college football postseason. Sad face?

Here are our picks for week 4. I'm currently 19-13 ATS, earning three bonus points for a total of 22 points. Jeff is 15-17 ATS with four bonus points for a total of 19 points.

Point spreads matter.

DateBowl Game And MatchupJeffBrian
Jan. 7 BBVA Compass Bowl Pittsburgh (-3.5) vs. SMU Pittsburgh Pittsburgh
Jan. 8 GoDaddy.com Bowl Northern Illinois vs. Arkansas State (-1) Northern Illinois Northern Illinois
Jan. 9 National Championship Game LSU (-1) vs. Alabama LSU Alabama

Bonus picks:

Brian:

5. LSU vs. Alabama (+1). Jeff's all out of bonus picks but I have one left. And I'm going with Alabama in the BCS National Championship Game. By all accounts except for the final score (minor detail, right?), Alabama was the better team back on November 5. However, the Crimson Tide was done in by four missed field goals and an interception at the LSU 1. I'll also take Nick Saban in the big game over Les Miles.

It's wishful thinking, but I hope Alabama wins in a close one and the rogue AP voters actually do vote for LSU as the National Champion. Rooting interest: chaos. Always chaos.

Roll tide.

Alabama

I think Trent Richardson ROLLLLLLLSSSSSSSSSSSS!!

also a much higher than anticipated score?

29-26 was my ESPN Pool pick so no changing allowed!

I would not be shocked to see Bama stifle LSU’s offense and win 34-10.

When you watch these big boy bowl games this year, the one thing that sticks out is how slow BC is on both sides of the ball, even versus lesser competition.

BC is like frozen molasses.

I read the latest 3 service recruiting rankings and the huge talent loads of speed and skill headed to these big boy bowl teams in the upper 4 and 5 star tiers —and the other usual suspects including FSU, and WOW!! ….cna this Jimbo really recruit— and it would take a perfect storm miracle of a Boise State Peterson type and a $3.5M a year Coach for BC to be competitive in the future and recruit at a much higher level than today along with much better coaching.

Keep that play clock rolling in 2012!!

LOL!

Shocked how one-sided this poll is

I think LSU is going to win but we’ll see.

Think they should get the AP National Championship win or lose.

Pitt clobbered

Future Big East member SMU dominated current Big East and future ACC member Pitt in today’s Compass bowl… Pitt is just a slowly floundering program – why does the ACC want them?

So Boston College football can look good in comparison … duh!

I’d also point out that Pitt was the only team out of Pitt / Syracuse / UConn to make a bowl game this year. Do you know how bad you have to suck to not make a bowl in the Big East?

How are we not discussing the ASU-NIU game? LSU, shmell-S-U, with the recent coaching changes at ASU and the up-and-down offense of NIU, this could be the most exciting game since…Tuesday?

BC has the best sport graduation rate in the NCAA.
