This year, the very young Boston College Eagles haven't started so well. BC fans all thought that this team would be better than the dreadful 2010-2011 Wake Forest Demon Deacons, however, that doesn't appear to be the case. So I compared the numbers between the 2 teams, and the results are quite similar.
Wake Forest record through 14 games: 6-8
PIcked: 11th/12th in ACC
Wins: Hampton, Elon, Marist, Iowa, Holy Cross, UNC Greensboro
Losses: Stetson, VCU, Winthrop, UNC-Wilmington, Xavier, Presbyterian, Richmond, Gonzaga
Key Win: Iowa
Key Loss: Stetson (Finished 7-23 on the year)
Final Record: 8-24
ACC Record: 1-15
Key Fact: None of Wake Forest's wins came against teams that had a winning record except Virginia.
Boston College Record through 14 games: 5-9
Picked: 12th in ACC
Wins: New Hampshire, UC Riverside, Stony Brook, Bryant, Sacred Heart
Losses: Holy Cross, Massachusetts, Saint Louis, New Mexico, Penn State, Boston University, Providence, #23 Harvard, Rhode Island
Key Win: Sacred Heart
Key Loss: Rhode Island in 2 OT's
Final Record (Projected according to Kenpom): 7-31
ACC Record (Also projected according to Kenpom): 2-15 (Wins over Clemson and Georgia Tech at home)
Key Fact: None of BC's wins came against teams that had a winning record.
So as you can see, the results are quite similar. While Wake will probably finish with more wins than BC, the play of both teams is likely to be very similar. Donahue needs to be patient, and the wins will come over the years.
