Boston College Daily Links: Talking Stock Of 2012 BC Football

Taking Stock In 2012: BC Football (ACC Sports Journal)
The biggest concern right now is, frankly, Spaziani. He had a strong reputation as a defensive coordinator, but college football is filled with highly-regarded coordinators who struggled when their turn came to run a program. Thus far, at least, the numbers aren’t encourage for Spaziani. In his three seasons as BC’s head coach, the Eagles have gone from eight wins, to seven and then down to four in 2011. As mentioned above, Spaziani has rapidly gone through offensive coordinators, but has little to show for it (BC was 98th in total offense in 2009, 108th in 2010, 112th in 2011).

NY Giants' Mathias Kiwanuka knows Atlanta Falcons' Matt Ryan is a hard quarterback to handle (NY Daily News)
"He is fearless," Kiwanuka recalled. "You can’t assume that if you have tight coverage he won’t fit the ball in because he can make every throw. He’s a prototypical quarterback and he has the confidence to get it in there so it is going to be tough."

15. Philadelphia Eagles, Luke Kuechly, LB, Boston College. Blame Wide 9 from outer space, blame the high cost of free agent chemistry, blame the converted offensive line coach turned defensive coordinator, all of it deserves some scorn. The Eagles still need some help at linebacker, and Kuechly is the kind of middle linebacker that potential future defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo had in St. Louis with James Laurinaitis.

Even harder road ahead (BostonHerald.com)
"I feel like it is going to be another growing period for us with most of us going through it for the first time at this level of play," Anderson said. "But I feel coach Donahue is really preparing us, and we are talking about our next game already. I feel if we can execute our game plan that coach Donahue gives us we have a great chance to win a game."

"I'm excited to see them in ACC play -- one of the best leagues in the country -- to see how they compete," BC coach Steve Donahue said of his team that suits nine freshmen.

Conference Power Rankings: ACC (ESPN College Basketball Nation Blog)
12. Boston College: The Eagles managed only three points (all on free throws) in the final 8:32 of their loss to Harvard, and the point-less stretches are becoming a theme for young BC. Boston College is averaging a league-worst 61 ppg.
