Mike Leach Pirates Boston College Strength Coach Jason Loscalzo

This link is a few days old now, but according to the Coaching Search, Washington State coach Mike Leach has hired Boston College strength & conditioning coach Jason Loscalzo to the same position.

Washington State: I have just learned that Boston College head strength coach Jason Loscalzo has accepted the head strength job at Washington State.

Loscalzo has been the Eagles head strength & conditioning coach for the past three seasons. Loscalzo is a California native who played fullback at Humbolt State (Arcata, California) from 1996-97 and at Sierra Junior College from 1993-95 before getting into the strength game, so this move will allow him to return a little closer to home. He previously served on the staff at Auburn, Marshall, Nevada, Arkansas and Humbolt State.

This leave Spaziani with another key coaching position to fill, as the BC strength coach is the only member of the staff permitted to work with the players year-round.

Loscalzo's Legacy

Coach Loscalzo brought big time college strength and conditioning to a school that never had anything that resembled it in the past. He has been credited by many respected college coaches and analysts for the emergence of a stronger, faster BC team which can boast the likes of high NFL draft picks such as BJ Raji, Ron Brace, Anthony Costanzo, soon to be Luke Kuechly, as well as many others. He will be missed at Boston College, and a considerable drop off will be noticed in the years to follow.
