Production is nice on the collegiate level, and Kuechly’s certainly will warrant him a first round pick but in the NFL you need to be athletic and that’s an area that he undoubtedly lacks in.
He lacks sideline-to-sideline speed that you’re accustomed to seeing from players like Brian Urlacher and also the inability to shed blockers like you would like an NFL middle linebacker to do.
Kuechly was brilliant in college and did it primarily under the radar but he’s likely to be overdrafted come April and I would not be surprised if he didn’t pan out in the NFL.

I’m sorry. I can’t resist trolling the hell out of Bleacher Report. It’s just too easy.

Bleacher Is a compete joke
As Hoya points out, Luke excels at shedding blockers.
Funny, the terd who runs the ND Blog, Eric Murtaugh, spent several years as a Bleacher “writer” before heading up One Foot Down blog, (he also did not go to ND)
I am confused as to how he lacks sideline-to-sideline speed. Every game I saw featured Kuechly within three steps of every opposing offensive ball played. He was literally in every frame of the TV coverage, whether it was under the pile, or standing over it.
Let us not forget that for all of Bleacher Reports’ failings, they are one of the few media outlets that sees Spaz for what he is – an assistant with a head coach hat (visor) on.

About the bleacher report "writer"
I am currently a junior at the University of Missouri-Columbia and majoring in Sports Management with a minor in Business.
If you give me the opportunity, I will talk your ear off about all things sports. That said, I decided to use sports writing as an outlet for my passion.
I’m a Chicago sports lifer – Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks and especially, the Flubs. I mean, Cubs, from which I didn’t get from my father (he’s a Sox fan). I love deep-dish pizza, Navy Pier and long walks on North Avenue Beach (sarcasm).
I feel my best work lies within the realm of Fantasy Football. So if you’re team is struggling or you just want a fresh take, check out some of my stuff or shoot me a question.

Blah Blah Blah
Zach Thomas was too small, too slow, blah blah blah….
Same deal 15 years ago and all the kid like Sir Luke Glueboy will do is make plays and tackles.
Luke know how to wrap up and tackle.
This guy is a moron.
His defense is he’s not the only one that projects that Kuechly will fail to excel at the next level. Think for yourself, homey.

Random Unrelated Question
BC has always had a difficult time recruiting big time receivers. In 2010, we were somehow able to land the #5 wide receiver nationally as ranked by Rivals, Shakim Phillips. For some reason, he left BC and transferred to UConn. Does anybody know why?
Spaz?
No clue, they never said. Can only guess at this point.

Specializes in fantasy....?
So why the heck would you leave the safety of that realm? Seriously….you have not a clue dude.
This guy went at us on Twitter. Accused us of being homers. Clearly has not watched Kuechly play this year. He doesn’t have breakaway speed but his sideline-to-sideline speed and ability to shed tackles is precisely why Luke will be a top 15 draft pick.
Kuechly’s ability to shed tackles is why he was so successful in college.

LK will go Round 1 or 2 depending on team needs in the pass happy NFL, but that guy is a
deep di-aa-sh-hole.
I don’t think Kuechly is going to be the next Patrick Willis, but this report is ridiculous. If he works hard enough, he has the talent to be the next D’Qwell Jackson or Jerod Mayo.
Great Comparison
Could he be a bust? Sure, most first rounders don’t live up to the hype (more our less). But I love the above comparison to Jerod Mayo. I think he’ll be a steady, productive leader who you kind of wish made a few more big plays.
Plus if you saw the impact that Brandon Spikes made this week on the Patriots it was huge… And that man’s sideline to sideline speed is terrible. You want your middle linebacker filling gaps, not running forty yard dashes.

I always love comparison to another player at an extreme end of the spectrum to further your argument.
If Kuechly doesn’t become the next Brian Urlacher = bust.
