Head coach Frank Spaziani felt his seat in Chestnut Hill heat up after the Eagles' 4-8 record in 2011 resulted in the program's first bowl-less postseason since 1998. The first opportunity to win back support comes in recruiting, and Boston College is currently looking at one of the least impressive classes in the conference. Both in current number (14) and caliber of commitments.

Yeah this is depressing me

At least Miami can live off of past NC glories during their downturn. What do we, modern era, BC fans have? 1 Champs Sports Bowl? That was pretty much the pinnacle.

The long slide in Dante's Last Rectum Of Hell...

Started a long time ago.

Been posting this same message on many threads here—— and also, on a defunct BC site and the Globe since last October and since the Jags blunder ——- that the sad rumor the parents of talented high school stars were wondering why BC choose the Spazoo loser and when they called BC and spoke with GDF, the parents were not satisfied with BC and GDF, Spazoo and the direction of the program!

Worse…the weak and lame responses to the parents spread into the BC recruiting zones and kids on social media -— and now BC is COOKED with this arrogant athletic director, loser Head Coach and entire operation that changes offensive coordinators like underwear.

Some parents even called GDF’s superior!!, (Yup Father Leahy), and the weaker BC Trustees and asked not if, but when Spazoo would be fired and who would be the new Coach!

Kids talk even from different areas of the country and so do the parents. It’s a wild social media world and word is out….

BOSTON COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS A CLOWNSHOES PROGRAM!

The GDF/Spazoo slide from mediocrity into malaise hell went from 3 poor classes into one of the worst ever and worst ever ranked at BC and my prediction they both would be fired may have been one year early, but the talent and skilled position talent is not coming to BC.

Time to start the Spazoo Excuse Train.

What’s it gonna be this time?

Yup. let’s blame Jags again….LMAO!

…..BC can’t blame academic requirements…Stanford, TCU, ND, Virginia, Vanderbilt, Northwestern…..they are having great recruiting years….

The Gene DeFilippo immature, juvenile temper fit with Jags and his monumental disaster level blunder firing has now spun BC Football into the third tier of BCS teams.

Like I end a lot of my posts…

THE WORST IS YET TO COME.

Oh I forgot, Spazoo is the best Coach in 16 years and what the fans think doesn’t matter.

With that schedule, it will be a miracle if BC wins 5.

Action speaks more accurately than words.

If the kids really appreciated the “Coaching Staff’s ethos”, that reflection would be mirrored, by above average achievements each saturday afternoon.

Personally I believe the Individual Coach is a fairly competant sideline leader. His contempt for the recruiting process permeates the entire program.

BC, on the other hand has an Institutional problem, that is far greater than just the coach. Today’s recruits do not like being looked “Down” on.

BC’s search committee will have to begin with its own soul. ….And that is a very hard thing to do.

And this surprises anyone how?

This isn’t new for BC. TOB classes historically did not rank highly during his tenure, but he found ways to “coach em up”. Haven’t seen any evidence of that happening under Spaz.

GDF has provided Spaz with special dispensation though…so it’s ok.

TOB’s classes still ranked much higher than this years class is currently trending.

Evidence?

wow

wow

1-11 versus Top 25 teams.

0-10 versus BCS Top 25 teams.

Yup, looks like coaching ’em up may need a teeny, tiny tweak?

0-3 vs. Virginia Tech
0-3 vs. Notre Dame

January 4th on the BCS Futility Fan Post

CBS and others can now smell the incompetence, many here knew a long time ago.

Here was the post….and on other posts and sites….

You think we are bad now, just wait!

Ever check out the recruiting hauls in the last three years for Clemson and FSU -and this year— in our division too!!

BC has slid so far down in depth and talent, that we may only recover with a dynamic miracle head Coach hire in 2013, if slimy Gene is fired with Spazoo, since no recruiting magic new Head Coach will come to BC if GDF is there, unless….. $$$$ talks and a huge salary is paid!

BC is working an inept model for recruiting talent all over America!

a couple points

1. BC always has poorly ranked recruiting classes and the reasons have been discussed before. Now that’s a relative thing, and if memory serves, maybe the best I can recall in the last 12-15 yrs is a low 20s, and the worst I recall is mid 50s perhaps. Part of the reason for that is the low number of recruits we normally take compared to the State U factories who bring in 30 plus (and then lose10-12 in the course of things), verse our normally in the 16-22 range and keeping most of them. But bottom line, we’re never going to see top 10 classes and I can’t remember seeing a top 20 class. Yes, we do have to “coach ’em up,” i.e develop them, and rely a good deal on brains as well, which doesn’t measure out w/ recruiting gurus and rankings.
2. even if this is a “lesser” class – and I don’t concede it will be, compared to BC’s historical averages – it won’t have much impact on the team in 2012 and 2013. But for an occasional high-impact frosh (which BC gets maybe once every 4-6 yrs), a single class is not impacting a program like BC for 3 yrs or so. Also, ONE class does not greatly impact a program, it’s when you have 2 or 3 bad classes in a row. I don’t think that is the case here.
3. 2012 is Spaz’s make or break year. I’ve argued we’re on an upward trend in [re-]building the program and it’s true that if Spaz doesn’t have a winning season and get back to a bowl game, he’s probably in deep trouble. 7-5 and he’s back for 2013, when we’ll probably be better again; 6-6, hard to say; anything less than 6 wins, he’s gone.

BC has the same problem most losing programs have.

They have a serious recruiting problem which they choose to ignore.

Their philosophy is “Institutional”, and therefore next to impossible to fix from the inside.

It is not difficult for a guy like me, however, to sit here and take easy shots at BC. One of the so called easy shots would have been the recruitment of Bjeorn Werner. This is complete nonsense. One Highly skilled, dominate Defensive end is NOT what BC NEEDS to compete.

What they must do….Is go out and get the very best QB, with the highest IQ, that is willing to redshirt, in order to BUILD a monster of a team around HIM. Emphasis on him.

This goes against everything these tightass, mules that already know everything. Just ask them, they will gladly, and arrogantly rant about how they actually do know everything there is to know about football. I am not kidding. They will even have a straight face!

They are worse than all the talking heads on ESPN.

What I love the most about football, is that [I know] it is constantly evolving.

Once the whistle blows………….everything after that is up for grabs.

The recruits know when the coaches are full of Sh$t, when they are being recruited also. They are getting slammed on ESPN the last 48 hrs.

I am fairly certain that the “Son, we are in a re-building phase of our program.”. Went right over the BC’s recruiters heads. I assure you that every high school kid is just waiting to pounce on the first nitwit that walks into his house and lays that one on him.

Consider that a gift……:)

BC…..You need to just be honest. And don’t try to tell me there isn’t a cannon somewhere up in New England that likes Calculus and Physics.

BC is probably the best School’s, in one of the greatest cities, which for some reason seems to hire Coaching staffs, that couldn’t give away meatball sandwiches to people that are dying of starvation.

The Naval Acadamy out recruits BC. imo.

Spaz is very capable of handing out meatball sandwiches. Ask the maintenance staff.
