Hockey East and CBS Sports Network announced on Wednesday an eight-game broadcast schedule for the upcoming 2011-12 season, with five of those games involving the Boston College Eagles, natch.
"The network will televise the team's home-opening game against Denver, the Western Collegiate Hockey Association's Preseason media choice to win its league title this winter, on Friday, Oct. 14 at 7:30 p.m.
Additionally, it will also carry both Boston College home dates with Boston University - on Sunday, Nov. 13 (4 p.m.) and Friday, Dec. 2 (7:30 p.m.) - and both home dates with Vermont - on Friday, March 2 (7:30 p.m.) and Saturday, March 3 (7 p.m.)."
In addition to these five games, there's likely to be much more Boston College hockey televised this upcoming season. Both games of this year's Ice Breaker Tournament out in Grand Forks will likely be televised by Fox Sports North. Same for the Great Lakes Invitational over the holiday break out in Detroit on Fox Sports Detroit. Plus the annual Beanpot Tournament which will likely be covered by NESN and the NCAA Tournament on the ESPN family of networks.
All those games, combined with a possible Versus / NBC Sports Network deal to broadcast select college hockey games on Friday and Saturday night this season, and seems like a great year to buy the DirecTV sports package and enjoy lots of Boston College hockey action.
Let me know if I missed any televised games in the comments section.
