Boston College 45, UMass 17: Eagles Finally In The Win Column
Boston College quickly jumped out to a 24-7 first half lead en route to a 45-17 victory over the Massachusetts Minutemen. As they should have. The Eagles got two first half touchdowns from Chase Rettig -- a 1 yard TD pass to Lars Anderson and a 36 yard strike to Colin Larmond Jr. -- and a 3 yard touchdown run from Tahj Kimble. Nate Freese added a 26-yard FG in the first half.
In the second half, Rettig hit Larmond for his second touchdown of the game, a 37 yard jump ball that CLJ Jr. came down with. Clancy got the Boston College D in the scoring column on the year after returning a Jonathan Hernandez fumble 18 yards to paydirt to make it 38-10. KPL made it 45-10 after recovering a Kellen Pagel fumble (interception?) 96 yards for the defense's second touchdown of the day.
The best news of the day was the return of the preseason ACC Player of the Year to the field after missing the first three games of the season. Harris wasn't given his typical workload of 30-40 yards a carry, and was used sparingly throughout the day, finishing with 9 carries for 27 yards.
Enjoy the rest of the Florida State-Clemson game as the Seminoles and Tigers battle for early control of the ACC Atlantic Division title race. I'd say we want Florida State to win that game since we get them at home on Thursday night and hahahaha who am I kidding?
Leave your thoughts on the game below. Go Eagles!

You have to feel bad for Spaz
I mean this is clearly not in line with his plan for purposefully running BC football into the ground. Somebody disobeyed him and put points on the board.

Do I need to remind anyone that we whiffed on the top 8 (8!!!!) recruits from Massachusetts this year?
Your anger is so predictable its hilarious!

Well this is what happens when you finally put points on the board, win the time of possession battle and let the second stringers play.

Corrected.
Correct, we did do all of those things mostly because we played UMass.

Rest of ACC
I’m not about to predict any sort of amazing turn-around season for BC this season, but at least the rest of the ACC isn’t looking too good…
NC St. already lost big time obviously, Maryland got crushed by Temple today, and Miami is losing to K-State at halftime. Maybe BC can win more than one game this year.
using montel is a firable offense
He has a chance to make history and Spaz is running him out there in the UMass game. Pitiful

And at less than full strength a month after having his second knee surgery. The ACC record is a distant memory. Right now, I’m just worried that his leg has healed enough so that he doesn’t end up with a career-ending injury from another awkward hit.
His health is much more important than any record, and this was a risk. I cringed every time he was tackled.
You have to wonder
How much of that was Spaz’s input, and how much was Montel just pushing to get out of BC and go to the pros. I’m betting it’s a little from column A and a little from column B

also we tend to forget that montel just wants to play football as soon as possible, every player is always trying to push to get back on the field and if he thought he was ready to go this week (he never expected to miss more than two games because of this surgery) it has to be hard to convince someone to miss 9 games (potentially 10) just because it would be more useful for the team to have them for 12 in 2012
