Safety Dominick LeGrande To Transfer, No Longer With Boston College

Photo

The hits just keep coming for the BC Eagles. Let's get the bad news from HD out of the way. According to a Boston College press release:

Boston College coach Frank Spaziani has announced that senior safety Dominick LeGrande has decided to transfer and is no longer a member of the football team.

LeGrande (Staten Island, NY) appeared in 11 games last season and registered 21 tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

Oh boy ... another loss in the secondary. I have to say I'm not totally surprised by this. LeGrande had been kept out of the previous scrimmages next to Okechukwu Okoroha. Not clear on why he transferred, but the problems to the secondary continue to mount.

That now leaves us with Dominique Williams as our starting strong safety, and puts even more pressure on Spaz to find a backup. Hampton Hughes, who has a total of zero starts as a college level safety, had a great scrimmage earlier this week, but do we really want to see him starting in real games against good offenses? Seriously, we are a Williams injury away from Hampton Hughes. Let that settle for a moment.

What is going on in Chestnut Hill right now? Two projected starters are now gone. It makes you wonder whether Spaz is cracking down in the locker room.

AJL, get ready

Whoa!! These losses in the secondary are now worrying even me! If this continues, they are going to have to re-convert Momah to safety :-)

It says LeGrande is transfering, but I wonder if he was pushed by a man with a mustache!

ALJ — you are gonna play this year… hope you are as good as advertized

What is going on with the secondary? This is when our lack of competent beat reporters is most glaring…there has to be a legitimate explanation.

O and Legrande

Think it’s a reasonable assumption that these 2 best friends were involved in the same incident- 1 got the boot, the other was gonna take a hit in PT and jumped ship.

Both being out of the last scrimmage was pretty telling in hindsight.

I’m sure Mark Blaudschun is on it…..and will post about it in 3 months.

My guess...

Since whatever happened is so tight lipped, then it’s something internal. I bet he failed a pp test or something like that.

Sudden

Something big and sudden is going on. I believe that they were on the poster. The secondary will be “lit up like a Christmas tree”.

I don’t get it. Why now? What happened? These are upperclassmen.

Were either of the two recently-transferred kids going to start?

Gut reaction

Seems less like a willing ‘transfer’ and more like he either got caught up in whatever O had going on or wanted to leave after what happened to O.

Remember O was “dismissed from the team for disciplinary reasons.”

Question

Wasn’t LeGrande also involved with a DUI a few years back?

by polarbearbrother on Aug 26, 2011 3:56 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm only a little concerned

Starters

SS Dominique Williams
FS Jim Noel
FC Donnie Fletcher
BC C.J. Jones

Noel did fine last year at safety. He’s a ball-hawker. If Jones or ALJ turn out to be ok or better, BC should be fine at CB. Only 1 position in the secondary is a concern to me.

FYI

No particular reason I’m posting this in this thread, but NU released its depth chart for BC today and Persa is listed as the starter. Whatever that means.
